You may not be wearing camouflage this hunting season, but there is one thing in your life begging to be camouflaged...
Your outdoor trashcan!
We all have a trash can. And most of them are an eye sore. Your options consist of putting the trash can in a very visible, but convenient location or hiding it away but having to lug your trash to it and having to drag it out to the curb once a week. Perhaps you have a small house and nowhere to hide it away. Or maybe you have a super long driveway and have resorted to leaving it at the end of the driveway and just carting your trash bags out to it. Do you really want that to be one of the first things people see when they pull up to your house?
Until they design an outdoor trash can that looks like a beautiful faux tree (one can dream, right?), we have some suggestions for how to camouflage an ugly trash can and increase your curb appeal at the same time!
Incorporate it into your landscaping
If you choose the location properly, you can get away with constructing a small structure that melts into the background of your landscaping or garden. Trees, shrubs, flowers and decorative grasses serve as the focal point and will distract the eye from small bins hiding your trashcans. Be sure to choose a style and material that coordinate well with the type of garden/landscaping that you have.
Create a decorative wall/screen
If you have a space that would benefit from a small barrier, you may want to choose a custom wall or screen. This is especially beneficial if you don’t want to build a square, boxlike structure or shelter. Screens and walls can be built to almost any shape, including curving around a corner or serving as a barrier between a sidewalk and the street.
Construct a small, custom enclosure
We can recommend the best material(s) that will both match your exterior and also disguise your trash can. A small custom building can actually enhance the visual appearance of your driveway or backyard, create additional storage, and provide a seamless look on your property. You may find that there are many added benefits to creating a small enclosure that will serve a far greater purpose than just hiding an eyesore!
Incorporate it into your fencing
This option can be quite simple and cost effective. Using the same material as your fencing, you can disguise the fact that you are hiding a trash can and make it look like part of your overall exterior design. If you have the space and location to go this route, it can end up being an easy way to dramatically improve your curb appeal and exterior!
At this point… you’ve probably picked a few ideal locations for where your trash can may soon live. We would love to give you a quote for building the perfect structure to hide your trash can and increase your curb appeal/exterior!
